Planning Your Golden Years

It is not uncommon to approach retirement with unease and lack of certainty in your financial future.

As defined benefit plans (pensions) began to make way for the defined contribution plans (401k, 403b, 457, etc.) we know today, there was a massive shift in retirement readiness responsibility. In previous generations, it was more common for a household to have pension income and two Social Security benefits.

Combine those fixed income sources with a shorter retirement on average, it was not as imperative that the retiree had abundant wealth in their own retirement accounts.

How have things changed?

With fewer and fewer pensions being offered, that puts more emphasis on everyone’s ability to save for themselves. We are also facing a tipping point in the solvency of Social Security, which puts even more burden on the retiree to plan and spend responsibly.

Planning for retirement has challenges but planning without knowing the path you are on creates additional areas of concern on which to focus.

Each of our advisors follow the fiduciary standard and our team is dedicated to planning for a future that empowers you to live your best life and to do so with confidence. You will work closely with these advisors to build, monitor and maintain a comprehensive financial plan that includes Lifestyle Planning, Financial Planning and Wealth Management.

Find confidence in the retirement decisions so many people, people like YOU, must make during this new chapter in life. You don’t have to be worried about money once you achieve financial confidence; let’s start planning towards that goal and start living well today.

Working while retired?

It is a misconception that retired means you don’t work. The destination of retirement should not be an age or employment status but a point of financial confidence.

It is easy to think that working longer automatically means you’ll have more money, and it often does. However, it is also possible that working longer just means more “taxable” money, not more wealth overall.

the Nest Egg Value?

The value of the nest egg dictates whether or not your retirement is a success, right? It is often less about what you were able to save for retirement and more about what you spend IN retirement that determines your retirement success.

Evaluating your current nest egg, expected earning years left (if any) and the lifestyle you want to maintain (in terms of monthly or annual income) need to be projected, stress-tested and challenged to see if your numbers are sustainable.
